Arc’teryx has put two completely different kinds of winter footwear inside the same £280 package.

The new Postour starts as a tall GORE-TEX boot with a cinch collar and a Vibram outsole built for snow and ice. Once you reach the lodge, hut or cabin, the insulated inner section pulls out and becomes a separate slipper with its own grippy sole.

It is not a liner that only works inside the boot. It is a second piece of footwear hiding inside the first.

The Outer Boot Is Built For Snow, Slush And Ice

Arc’teryx uses GORE-TEX Invisible Fit construction through the full height of the overboot, including the collar. A drawcord closes the top like one of the brand’s climbing chalk bags, helping keep out loose snow and slush.

Endure 360 rubber wraps around the lower section to protect it from abrasion and impact, while the outsole uses Vibram Arctic Grip. The tread combines 8.5 mm lugs with cold-weather rubber designed to improve traction on wet ice and softer snow.

That makes the Postour more capable than a soft après-ski boot meant only for a short walk across a dry resort path. It is designed for shovelling, moving around base camp and getting from the car to the lift when the ground is already frozen.

It is still a recovery boot rather than a hiking or ski boot. There is no lacing system for precise support, no rigid shell and no claim that it replaces technical footwear on the mountain.

The Slipper Has Its Own Insulation And Outsole

Pull the inner section free and it becomes a low slip-on with Coreloft insulation and a TPU grip outsole. The slipper can move around a wooden lodge floor without dragging snow, grit and a heavy winter sole inside.

Arc’teryx insulates both parts rather than relying on the slipper alone for warmth. That means the complete boot adds weather protection outside, while the removable inner remains useful on its own.

The slipper’s tread uses repeated Arc’teryx fossil-bird shapes, a small detail that only becomes visible when the two pieces are separated.

Arc’teryx has already explored post-activity footwear with products such as the Kragg Aura Shoe, which uses a collapsible heel and breathable upper for recovery after climbing. The Postour applies the same basic idea to winter, then adds a second shell for weather that a normal recovery shoe cannot handle.

It Saves Packing A Second Pair Of Shoes

The real argument for the Postour is not that one boot performs every winter task. It is that skiers and snowboarders often bring two extra pairs after their technical boots come off: something waterproof for the walk outside and something softer for indoors.

Postour combines those roles. The outer shell handles the route through the snow, and the removable slipper takes over once the door closes.

There are trade-offs. A two-part insulated boot is bulkier than a simple camp slipper, and anyone travelling light may still prefer a thinner recovery shoe. Surface cleaning is also the only care method listed by Arc’teryx.

The official product page currently publishes an internally inconsistent weight figure, listing 786 grams alongside 12 ounces for half a pair. Those values cannot both be correct, so the weight is best treated as unconfirmed until Arc’teryx corrects the specification.

Men’s And Women’s Versions Are Available Now

The Postour Boot costs $300 in the United States and £280 in the United Kingdom. Men’s and women’s versions are offered, with Tatsu green and Black/Black colourways available depending on market and size.

It is an expensive solution to the moment after a ski day, but it solves that moment with more thought than most recovery footwear. Outside, it behaves like a proper winter overboot. Inside, the part touching your foot simply leaves the rest of the boot at the door.
