Arc’teryx’s Sidewinder gained a cult following after its debut 25 years ago. It’s known for its relaxed fit, signature industry-first offset zipper, and premium materials. After years of refinement, the freeride shell finally gets a long-awaited upgrade that reflects today’s modern innovations in ski and snowboard technology.

Arc’teryx equipped this performance wear with innovative materials and a redesigned fit. It features a shorter, relaxed silhouette for enhanced mobility. But it retains the iconic 3D-molded zipper and the thermomoulded curved WaterTight zipper engineered to move the zipped collar away from the chin for comfort without compromising weather protection.

The 2026 Sidewinder also features the subtle tone-on-tone color blocking found in the original. This jacket also uses premium materials designed to withstand outdoor use and extreme outdoor conditions. It features strategically mapped PFAS-free Gore-Tex ePe (expanded polyethylene) fabric. It’s a light, thin, yet strong membrane that is windproof and waterproof. It lets sweat vapor escape and blocks cold air.

Meanwhile, durable 100-denier face fabrics offer reliable resistance against wear and abrasions. The 100D fabrics pair with tonal ripstop reinforcements in high-stress areas, like the elbows and shoulders, for extra durability, breathability, waterproofing, and windproofing.

The 2026 Sidewinder also features offset pockets that offer roomy storage and enhance the design’s relaxed silhouette. Then the cinchable waist lets users dial the jacket to their desired fit for ideal comfort and protection. Arc’teryx includes this upgraded layer in its FW26 ski and snowboard lineup and launches globally on Oct. 9 on the brand’s website, in stores, and at select retailers.
