Some of you may not be totally familiar with Marathon Watches. To be fair, they sort of offer very niche products — watches built on military specifications. But if you do know the luxury watch brand, you’ll be happy to know that one of its most acclaimed models, the Search & Rescue Dive (GSAR), is finally getting an all-black variant.

Touted as a watch built specifically for government search and rescue teams, the Search & Rescue Dive is a timepiece with a solid diver wrapped in a sleek and classic design. The all-black color scheme doesn’t deviate much from the original model, sure. However, it provides the overall aesthetic with enough zing to make it stand on its own.

The all-black version nets you a black dial, vulcanized black rubber strap, and 41mm stainless steel case with anthracite ion-plated coating. Marathon says that coating is three times harder than standard stainless steel, amazingly. It also features a sapphire glass crystal. That means you don’t have to worry about accidentally scratching it.

The Search & Rescue Dive comes with tritium gas tube lume that’ll allow you to see the dials and other details even under low-light situations. The only possible downside is that this watch is powered by the ETA 2824-2. That’s a mainstream automatic movement mechanism that’s still pretty good all things considered.

The watch is also water-resistant up to 300 meters. We reckon you won’t be diving that deep anytime soon, of course. Still, it’s a nice thing to know the watch will work even if you’re that far down.
