Yesterday Sony raised the curtain on its latest smartphone. The Japanese company has been making some quality handsets of late, and can probably boast its best range of smartphones ever. The latest Xperia is a robust device and follows the recent trend of frankly world-class mobiles from Sony. The Xperia ZR continues the Sony ethos of making its smartphones robust and the talk about feature on this handset is the fact it is waterproof.
Not gimmicky waterproof either, but the real deal. The Xperia ZR can be submerged in water up to 1.5m in depth and maintain full functionality. Even the camera will still work, and Sony is really pushing the fact that this is a working underwater snapper and video camera.
Under the hood the Xperia ZR ($TBA) is sporting a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Quad-Core processor, 2GB of RAM, and runs on Android 4.1. In terms of getting the best quality for photos when on land or in water, the Xperia ZR packs a 13MP fast-capture camera with Exmor RS sensor and an impressive 16x digital zoom, perfect for all the photographers out there.
