You shouldn’t have to babysit your woodstove or fireplace, constantly checking whether it needs more wood or is warm enough. Oru takes the job off your hands, using sensors that show how the fire burns through the lamp’s glow. It monitors the temperature and sends a quiet signal through the lamp’s glow.
It uses a K-type sensor on an ESP32-S3 module (WiFi and Bluetooth connected) that reads stove temperature every second and sends it over your home network directly through the lamp. The glow changes within seconds: it glows amber when the fire is burning well, yellow when it’s time to add wood, and red when it’s running too hot.
Oru shows the glow from across the room without opening an app or peeking into the stove yourself. But when you’re not at home, its companion phone app also tells you the same thing. The app shows real-time temperature with an exact heat curve, shows burn history, and sends a notification when the fire is dying down and it’s time to reload wood.
Moreover, it notifies you when the stovepipe passes the limit you set through the burn zones. Oru sets up fast and easy: its discreet, high-heat sensor attaches magnetically to your stovepipe. It is compatible with most black single-wall and double-wall pipes. For double-wall pipes, it needs an app setup, and the sensor calibrates itself. After that, you just set the lamp on a sideboard or shelf where you naturally glance.
Oru also ditches the utilitarian design for a sleek, elegant aesthetic that blends alongside ceramics, books, and furniture. It features a solid walnut body with a diffusing lens at the top. It’s USB-C powered and makes babysitting the woodstove sophisticated.
