Do you like to customize the aesthetics of your gadgets? There are plenty of ways to personalize them, such as protective cases, stickers, or DIY components. Sony’s gaming subsidiary might be in the hot seat these days, but it’s business as usual for the PlayStation team as they drop the Prism Collection.
Honestly, cheap third-party replacement kits are readily available if you know where to look. However, there’s no guarantee these will fit without issues. So, most would rather pay extra to source it directly from the manufacturer. Some prefer to keep their OG PS5, PS5 Slim, and PS5 Pro in their original state.
So far, PlayStation has already released two official capsules. First up is the Deep Earth Collection (Metallic): Sterling Silver, Volcanic Red, and Cobalt Blue. The next series includes Nova Pink, Galactic Purple, Midnight Black, Starlight Blue, and Cosmic Red. With the Prism Collection, we are finally getting three transparent colorways.
We’re sure fans of retro consumer electronics are hyped for this drop. The DualSense controllers come in Graphite Gray, Flare Orange, and Emerald Green. 80% of the gamepad is see-through, while the shoulder buttons, adaptive triggers, PlayStation button, analog sticks, and trim (metallic) are opaque.
Of course, buyers will also want to match their game system with their DualSense. Hence, PlayStation also offers Console Covers in said tonal shades for the Prism Collection. The lower halves of each side are opaque, while the upper halves are transparent. So far, our only concern is the glossy finish instead of a translucent one. Over time, scuffs and scratches will affect its appearance.
