Since it’s the season for giving, you also deserve a nice reward for all your hard work. May we suggest a striking blue timepiece from Hermès? It’s on the luxurious side, but not everyone will find the cost prohibitive. This is the H08 Bleu de Malte, another elegant entry in the series. Measuring about 42 mm, it’s on the larger side.

Nevertheless, the pillow-shaped case is curvy and not chunky. Avant-garde this is not, but the minimalist design is all part of the appeal here. Technically, not counting the lugs, we’re looking at a 39 mm case crafted out of braided glass fiber composite with an aluminum coat. The H08 Bleu de Malte features a blue ceramic bezel with a sleek satin-polished finish.

For a textural contrast, the chamfered edges sport a mirror polish instead. As you flip it over, what greets us is a brushed titanium case back. We’re not sure about the color-matching crown, though. It could be made of ceramic, anodized aluminum, or titanium. Elsewhere, the matte rhodium-plated dial touts applied Arabic numeral hour markers.

Attention to detail shows these numbers with gray borders and blue spines. These surround an inner disc in blue with baton hour markers, while the innermost section holds the minute track. Next is a square aperture between 4 o’clock and 5 o’clock that functions as the date window.

Skeleton hour and minute hands with an orange-tipped second hand keep track of time. Your Hermès H08 Bleu de Malte relies on an in-house H1837 self-winding caliber with a 50-hour power reserve. Last but not least, it comes with a Malta Blue rubber single tour strap and a titanium folding clasp.
