It just so happens that Bell & Ross is ready to meet up halfway courtesy of the BR-X5 Meteorite.
By now, most of you have probably guessed where this subject leads to. The watchmaker is not the first to incorporate a stellar material into a timekeeping instrument. However, it does so in a simple yet striking fashion without going overboard. Actually, we are aware of the brand’s preference to keep things subtle and sweet.
“With the BR-X5 Meteorite, the BR-X5 collection is opening a new chapter, combining the precision of Swiss watchmaking with the exclusivity of a meteorite billions of years old,” according to the product overview. We’re looking at a familiar pillow-shaped case crafted out of stainless steel with polished and vertically-brushed finishes.
The contrasting textures allow the 41 mm x 12.80 mm housing to sparkle on your wrist. No worries here is the reflective surfaces are limited, which doesn’t make it too garish. Minute markers appear in black on the flange. It also frames the Muonionalusta meteorite dial. Moreover, the Widmanstätten pattern is prominently showcased here as well.
Meanwhile, the applied baton hour markers and hands tout rhodium plating. For low-light legibility, the Swiss Super-LumiNova BGW9 Grade X1 lume emits a soft blue glow in the dark. The BR-X5 Meteorite runs on an in-house BR-CAL.323 self-winding movement with a respectable 70-hour power reserve. Lastly, Bell & Ross ships the watch with a black rubber strap and a stainless steel bracelet.
