The recently released Halo: Campaign Evolved remains a subject of debate among fans. Since the ground-up remake dropped late last month, opinions have been divided. For the rest of us, it brings back fond memories of Halo: Combat Evolved and the original console it shipped alongside. In the meantime, Mattel Brick Shop is giving us the Microsoft XBOX Building Set.
We all know that buildable plastic brick replicas of anything are usually associated with LEGO. However, the Danish company does not have a complete monopoly over these types of interactive toys. We’ve seen similar products from competing brands, but most cannot match the level of detail people expect.
To be honest, the completed Microsoft XBOX Building Set looks like the real deal at a glance. Only when you get up close and personal does the illusion disappear. Nonetheless, we are impressed by the level of accuracy Mattel Brick Shop was able to pull off. There are 3,509 pieces in the package, enough to assemble a 1:1-scale model of the main unit and the gamepad.
Gaming enthusiasts are likewise going to love the fact that it’s the “Duke” controller instead of the smaller Controller S, which eventually replaced it. Another awesome feature is the interactive functionality. Press the buttons to initiate “four unique light & sound sequences.” To ignite more waves of nostalgia are three dioramas of hit titles, such as The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Halo, and Psychonauts.
You can display these separately or store them inside the console as a cool easter egg. These days, scoring a working XBOX game system and controller in excellent condition is almost impossible without shelling out a fortune. Thus, the Microsoft XBOX Building Set is a better alternative, in exchange for a small caveat.
