Almost every brand in the handheld gaming PC scene now has a SKU running on AMD’s Z2 Extreme. Leading the pack are Lenovo and Asus, with their Legion Go 2 and the ROG Xbox Ally X, respectively. MSI isn’t about to let its rivals have all the fun, because the new Claw A8 BZ2EM now rocks the same silicon with some upgrades.
From what we could gather, all eyes are squarely on Valve these days. Perhaps in the hopes that it will announce a follow-up to the Steam Deck/Steam Deck OLED. Of course, there is also speculation that the Steam Machine is due to drop soon. Its arrival is bound to shake things up, which should turn out great for gamers in general.
It seems the Taiwanese firm’s earlier partnership with Intel on the first-generation model was not that favorable. Nevertheless, the subsequent arrival of the Claw A8 AI+ affirms the brand’s commitment to consumer satisfaction. The Claw A8 BZ2EM should be a beast, given it’s now outfitted with this potent APU from AMD.
“Meet the first handheld built with AMD Ryzen™ Z2 Extreme — designed for next-gen gaming on the go. Stay in the game longer with an 80Whr battery, immerse yourself in smooth visuals on an 8″ 120Hz VRR display, and enjoy ultra-precise Hall effect analog sticks and triggers that resist drift for lasting accuracy,” writes MSI.
Other technical specifications that make the Claw A8 BZ2EM a worthy upgrade include a 24 GB LPDDR5x-8000 in a dual-channel setup and a 1 TB PCIe Gen 4 x4 M.2 2280 SSD. A microSD card slot is also available, should you need to expand storage for more files or games.
