Gordon Murray’s obsession with every little detail is what turned him into a legend in the automotive industry. Never settling for just enough, the designer and engineer was always coming up with improvements for existing platforms. After notable stints with Brabham and McLaren, he’s now developing groundbreaking mechanical marvels like the new S1.

This supercar is under the Special Vehicles category, with the slogan, “The world is full of extraordinary roads. The S1 was made to find them.” With such an outstanding reputation behind the badge, demand should be through the roof. According to reports, the sleek three-seater’s production run will only deliver 64 examples worldwide.

To date, it is the third model under Murray’s direction with a distinctive central driving configuration. Meanwhile, passenger seats are slightly to the rear and flank the driver on each side. Furthermore, underneath the elegant aerodynamic exterior sits a 4.2-liter, naturally aspirated Cosworth V12.

The mid-mounted engine outputs 681 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. Also, for owners who want to feel the most immersive driving experience from their ride, the S1 delivers. Adjustable power steering assistance levels, alongside a six-speed manual transmission, are characteristics you won’t find on modern high-performance machines.

“As the latest model from Gordon Murray Special Vehicles, the S1 represents an extreme expression of the seven Gordon Murray design principles.” Equally notable elements include the bespoke LED lighting, custom lightweight wheels, A-pillar mirrors, premium leather upholstery, and a unique audio system, to name a few.

“The S1 retains the same intensity, response and engineering integrity, but is tuned for a different purpose. It is exclusive, analogue and deeply driver focused, while also being more elegant, refined and usable over distance,” states Gordon Murray.
