Are you running a multi-display workstation setup? If so, we all know the process is far from seamless at times. Most end up with a jumble of cables, bottlenecked data transmission, or unreliable connectivity with other devices or accessories. Some may chalk it up to Murphy’s Law, while others explore cutting-edge solutions such as the MOKiN MOPU1102.
For rigs with a dedicated GPU, modern cards typically have multiple output options. The common arrangement includes three DisplayPorts and one HDMI. However, laptops are a totally different story, as most models tout one HDMI port and a couple of USB-C ports (Thunderbolt 3/4). The MOPU1102 comes in handy when the task demands a bit more.
“Designed for professionals and creators, this laptop docking station expands your workspace with USB-C connectivity, multi-device support, and seamless monitor and peripheral integration.” Instead of the usual slab of metal or plastic, this 13-in-1 hub boasts an upright form factor and sleek metallic finish.
A 2.26″ smart LCD panel is mounted at an angle up front. It can show the current status of the connected monitors and the charging status. Yes, it supports fast-charging (Power Delivery) up to 160W. These ports are marked with a lightning bolt to denote which ones can juice up your gadgets. The USB-C ports can go as high as 100W, while the USB-A is limited to 12W.
Another cool function is the screen-lock, which quickly cuts the feed to your monitors for privacy. MOKiN says the MOPU1102 is compatible with all major operating systems, except for Linux. Also, macOS has some limitations in Extend Mode.
