A while back, Lenovo disrupted the Android tablet scene with the Tab Plus. It was an 11.5″ slate that also doubled as a multimedia hub as needed. Many found the product odd at first, but eventually appreciated the distinct features. Sales numbers were likely great enough to warrant a follow-up entry aptly called the Tab Plus Gen 2. To make it a worthwhile purchase even for existing owners of the original, the manufacturer throws in some upgrades. A welcome tweak, which might convince others to take the plunge, is the larger display and smoother visual performance. The official technical specifications puts it at 12.1 inches with a 2.5K (2560×1600) resolution, and 120 Hz refresh.
Lenovo says the Tab Plus Gen 2 can reach a maximum brightness of 800 nits. Alongside the anti-reflective coating, images will remain legible when you’re under the sun. The MediaTek Dimensity 7400 SoC is paired with 8 GB of LPDDR5 and 128 GB of internal storage. Of course, there’s a microSD slot as well.
A cool selling point of the original also makes a comeback here. No need for a portable Bluetooth speaker as the tablet already ships with a Dolby Atmos-ready, 9-speaker setup by JBL. To make space for the speaker grilles on the frame, the power button and volume rocker is relocated to the upper right corner of the rear cover.
There’s also a 360-degree kickstand at the back. Your Tab Plus Gen 2 can become a freestanding speaker in both landscape and portrait orientation. Lenovo ships the slate with a protective bumper case, which is a nifty bonus out of the box. Out of the box, it runs Android 16 and will receive major software support up to Android 18.
