Aiming to create a unique and perfect blend, head Distiller Graham Buller from the Australian 23rd Street Distillery mixed some prime Scotch whisky with American bourbon. The resulting concoction –which purists might call it a blasphemy– is definitely different.

Composed of 5-year barrel-matured Scotch and 2-year aged Bourbon, the Hybrid Whisk(e)y is finished in bourbon barrels, and clocks in at 42.3%.

It boasts distinctive notes of toasty oak and sweet sherry, rounded malt-like flavours, and a finish that presents a subtle oily nuttiness. Something that’s worth trying, we say.
