With the upcoming Monterey 2022 auctions next month, motoring enthusiasts and discerning collectors know there are surprises in store. With the number of eyes and ears tuned in at the event, carmakers are very likely to make huge announcements. Meanwhile, Mercedes-AMG already teases the 2023 GT 63 Coupe ahead of everyone else.

So far, insiders claim the new flagship high-performance coupe is the German marque’s answer to the Porsche 911. They also point out that the model has been assigned the internal codename C192. Another noteworthy tidbit is the absence of an open-top version. It appears buyers who crave a convertible must settle on the Mercedes-AMG SL instead.

As with most Mercedes-Benz performance division offerings, clients get to choose from various trim packages. They hint at a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with an output between 469 horsepower and 577 horsepower. More configurations are expected to follow and give clients even more options to consider.

Interestingly, there is talk of an E-Performance variant in the works as well. To give you an idea of what this setup can achieve is the GT 63 S – a four-door coupe. The addition of a rear-axle motor creates a highly capable plug-in hybrid that produces a staggering 832 horsepower and approximately 1,084 lb-ft of torque.

Now, take the same powertrain and slap it on a 2+2 coupe to create one powerful machine. As of this writing, Mercedes-AMG is yet to confirm if the battery capacity and all-electric range will remain intact. Nonetheless, the 2023 GT 63 Coupe will take advantage of active aerodynamics to allow drivers to experience its capabilities.
