Luxury Italian watch manufacturer Officine Panerai has just unveiled their first timepiece to feature a moon phase indication. The L’Astronomo Luminor comes packed with other goodies and functionalities too, such as an equation of time, sunrise and sunset settings, a tourbillon, and an innovative date function that uses polarised crystal.

Slightly larger than most watches (coming in at a 50mm diameter), the new Panerai has an anti-shock construction and its complicated inner-workings include a total of 375 different parts. Powered by a P.2005/GLS hand-wound skeletonized movement, this fine horologic machine can accurately track and display the moon phases, and it does so through a sapphire crystal at the back. It also takes your location into play, including both the northern and southern hemisphere.

Each L’Astronomo is made to order and personalized according to the coordinates of a place chosen by the watch’s owner.
