Architect Ramón Esteve has just completed a distinctive home in a suburban region of Spain’s port city of Valencia which he designed to give the appearance of a ‘continuous tiered balcony.’ While the North side of the structure presents a somewhat closed facade against the street, the southern exposure of the home uses natural concrete and floor-to-ceiling glass to make an exceptionally open looking horizontal presence across the landscape.
The “House in the Pine Forest” is contrasted by the cluster of young pine trees around the home that will only get better as the trees mature. The house looks out over a large Mediterranean garden and all the glass provides unfettered views of the surrounding garden and grounds.
With bold structural lines accented by soft woods, slate, and stone left in its raw state, this stately home seems to float among its environs. Along with an open lounge and outdoor balcony in the communal living space, the house reserves the top floor for the owner’s studio.
