At first glance, the 2019 Porsche Cayenne ($65,700+) doesn’t seem very different from its predecessors. On the outside, there is a great deal of similarity with the most noticeable changes taking place in the rear. The big differences tend to be inside. Most of the physical buttons and knobs have disappeared in favor of the 12.3″ touchscreen in the dash and two 7″ displays that change the data shown via steering-wheel mounted switches.
Using more aluminum in the external panels and body structure, as well as a new lithium-ion starter battery, cuts 143 lbs. (65 kg) off of the vehicle. The new Cayenne is debuting the longer-lasting Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PCSB) system of tungsten-carbide coated cast-iron brake discs on the 20″ and 21″wheel options.
The 2019 Cayenne has two engine options – a 340-hp, 3.0L single-turbo V6 capable of 0-60 in 5.8 seconds and a 2.9L 440-hp twin-turbo V6 that makes the 0-60 sprint in 4.9 seconds. Both versions have a 7-speed double-clutch transmission.
