The distinguished Scottish Highland distillery ‘The Dalmore’ has just unveiled their latest creation, the limited edition Vintage Port Collection ($194-$582), comprised of three matured single malt whiskeys. Originally aged in American white oak former bourbon casks, these select whiskeys were finished in tawny Port casks from winemaker W&J Graham of Douro, Portugal.
The Vintage Port Collection comes from three distinct vintages, the earliest being from 1996. Also included is a 1998 selection and another from 2001. The Dalmore’s Master Distiller, Richard Paterson, created the collection as part of his own celebration of fifty years in the whiskey industry. Describing his thoughts on the Vintage Port Collection he stated, “For me, Port and whiskey complement each other perfectly.”
The 1996 vintage has been bottled at 45% ABV while the 1998 comes in at 44% ABV. The 2001 vintage has the lowest ABV at only 40%. This limited selection can only be found at very select dealers of rare whiskeys.
