Modern Japanese culture embraces a worldwide love of motorsports as well as stylishly functional working shoes. Expressing this, streetwear fashion house NEIGHBORHOOD designer Shinsuke Takizawa has teamed up with Converse to renew two classic silhouettes that incorporate the Japanese motorcycle racing culture. The select pair is the One Star ’74 ($115) and the iconic Chuck Taylor All-Star ’70 ($105).
The All-Star ’70’s have canvas and leather uppers under a midfoot strap and special branded effects. The One Star ’74 features suede uppers with a leather lining to lend it strength. The standard star logo has also been updated to a slightly askance pentacle/pentagram motif. It, too, has special NEIGHBORHOOD branding markers to identify their design, including the ‘crafted with pride’ slogan. This is not the first time these two legends have paired up and with the looks of this new dynamic duo, may they do many more.
