Nominated for the 2016 Wood Award, the contemporary Cone House in Sweden is an unusually shaped, shingle-clad structure with its own beach and jetty, offering generous views of the Stockholm Archipelago.
Set on a sloping lakeside, the angular wooden building consists of three floors containing the private areas, while a spacious, double-height living space frames views to the waterfront. The white interior gets plenty of sunlight through large windows and skylights, revealing a homely Scandinavian style, emphasized by the wooden ceiling, staircase, and wood & stone floors. Perfect for catching some rays, an outdoor deck leads towards the shoreline, while stone steps embedded in the grassy landscape connect the house to several sheds also adorned in wooden shingles.
