Designed by a Russian company, the Skydome Cabins ($20,700+) break the angular design of most traditional homes, boasting instead dome-shaped structures that provide durability and great energy efficiency. They also happen to look stylish.
The cabins are available in different sizes, raging from 34 square meters to 260 sq m (365 – 2800 sq ft), and they all feature large windows and curved walls. Because of their rounded construction, the dwellings are claimed to have better resistance to heat loss, extra strength (supporting over 1,500 lbs of snow per sq m), as well endurance to severe weather conditions. It’s also been proven that the acoustics of round spaces is superior, so the Skydome Cabins should be perfect for listening and playing music. With all the benefits a dome has, it makes us wonder why we don’t build more homes like these.
