We like to feature cool and original blades here at MensGear, and this next piece is nothing short of unique. The Coney Island Boardwalk Handle Camping Knife ($195.00) has a story-rich handle, offering you a chance to carry a piece New York’s history in your pocket.
Made by Horse Brand Co. and Surname Goods, two New York-based companies, this beautiful knife is crafted from Ipe wood reclaimed from the Coney Island Boardwalk, in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. The handle is then inlaid with bright maple, for an extra touch of class. The blades, inspired by traditional Scandinavian knifes of the past, are fashioned from high-carbon steel, each fitted with a narrow Scandi Grind (a wide flat bevel) that provides a very keen edge with an excellent control of the cut, that is also easy to sharpen. To keep it neat, an optional leather sheath made out of thick-cut vegetable-tanned leather can be purchased for an extra $50. Handmade in Brooklyn-N.Y., the Coney Island Camping Knifes are hand stamped with the “Horse” logo and the origin of manufacturing, “USA”. via
