In today’s technological times, big companies battle to create the best digital speaker systems, to please the crowds of gadget-hungry geeks. But there are still a few people on this football called planet Earth, that can appreciate (and would go for) a more natural, hand crafted device such as the Ovo Speaker ($430,00).
Created by the Italian brand Monitillo Marmi, this unique speaker combines the apulian tradition of stone craftsmanship with cutting-edge product manufacturing, resulting in a cool shaped passive iPhone amplifier. Made out of a full Carrara marble slab, which is carefully selected to avoid cracks and impurities, the Ovo Speaker is processed with CNC technology and finally hand-finished in order to achieve a smooth outer surface with a grooved inner texture. Functioning exclusively by mechanic diffusion, where geometry plays a key role in sound amplification, OVO sports a milled slot to hold an iPhone 5 or 6, producing a pleasant rich sound. It can be used in two positions: horizontally for a direct flow, and slanted for a broader sound.
