BMW is saying goodbye to some of the iconic 3-Series range for good this year, but do not worry, models that would have been called a 3-Series Coupe for example will now fall under a new 4-Series range name. If that seems confusing then it simply means we get new BMW’s under two monikers instead of the traditional 3-Series range.
Making its debut is the 2014 BMW 4-Series($41,425+), a sleek coupe that offers that typical sexy functionality we have come to expect from Beemer designs. As this is a 4-Series, it is bigger than if it had been a 3-Series, but it is also more aerodynamic and considerably lighter. The size is thanks to two inches that have been added to the length of the car, while that lighter build comes courtesy of a lighter mix of construction materials, including aluminium. This is a slippery mid-sized coupe too, with air curtains and air breathers meaning the 2014 BMW 4-Seires will hug the road and be more efficient at the fuel pumps.
The car will come with a variety of options including manual or automatic transmission, rear-wheel drive or an all-wheel drivetrain, and different engines. The 428i will come with a 240-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine offering 0-60mph in 5.7 seconds, while the quicker BMW 435i, will feature a 300-hp turbocharged six-cylinder engine that will get you to 60mph in 5 seconds flat.
