When the Jaguar concept C-X16 was shown at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show for the first time we were left drooling at is exceptional design and aching beauty. When we looked deeper at the exquisite lines of the C-X16 we found in design terms that the car was a bit of a Frankenstein. There is more than a hint of Aston Martin about it, as well as some influences from Maserati, the Nissan Skyline, and even Ford, but despite this mix the car is no monster, and is certainly one of the most beautiful concepts of recent years.
The fantastic news is that Jaguar is releasing a car this year that takes heavy cues from the C-X16; its name is the F-Type. This new car from Jaguar is a two seat roadster that sports two V6 engine variations and a massive V8 firebrand version. The V8 comes in the form of a 5.0liter supercharged block that will push out 488 screaming stallions of power. Luckily the F-Type keeps the beautiful design that made the Jaguar C-X16 such a beauty and we are told that a coupe version will also join the roadster in time for the launch.
