This new addition to the series is the 8th curated extra añejo tequila to ship with an ornate decanter. So far, the previous outings include Circo (1998), Naturaleza (1998), Solo Luz (2000), Los Ojos (2001), Hector Velazquez Ortus (2010), Bosco Sodi (2012), and GARY BASEMAN (2013).
The Colección Friedeberg tequila a remarkable tribute to the late Pedro Friedeberg. He was an Italian-born Mexican surrealist and designer. As 1800 points out, the man “built a visual universe where the symbolic, the geometric, and the fantastical lived without hierarchy.” Among his final works was the Mono Laberinto Doble
It then becomes a decorative nickel enclosure for the crystal container. Moreover, only 50 examples are shipping worldwide, each with a signature, serialization number, and a signed art certificate. The distillery states no future plans for a reissue, so grab one while you can. Bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof), the liquid exudes a copper hue.
There are notes of dates, vanilla, honey, dried plum, and caramel. “The process begins with a rigorous agave selection after reaching optimum maturity. Subsequently, the agave enters our traditional slow baking process in stone ovens until obtaining select juice, which is then double-distilled in copper stills, and finally aged in French oak casks,” writes 1800 about the Colección Friedeberg.
