The gorgeous Una Vida Boutique Villas came about as the result of the owners wanting to create a selection of rental villas in the rainforest of southern Mexico near the Caribbean coast.

The property is a narrow triangle of land which affected the distribution of the various buildings. There are three distinct types, all designed with the possibility they may someday also serve as permanent homes. Carefully building among the trees, the architects used local stone and woods in the construction. The smallest units are one bedroom with combination living room/kitchen. Three medium units were made hosting two bedrooms, and one large structure that contains three bedrooms, kitchen, living area, garden, and private pool. All the ground floor apartments include an outside shower and tub. The maintenance building is enhanced with a traditional Mayan steam bath.

By breaking the villa into multiple units rather than one large building, they have utilized the natural tree shade and ocean breezes to moderate the tropical Caribbean atmosphere. The compound is aesthetically pleasing enough that tours are run through it to showcase the verdant flora surrounding the villas.
