Perched on an Andean mountainside near San Fernando (Chile), is a cabin-lodge offering spectacular vistas across the central mountain range valley and down to the river below. Called La Pajarera Lodge Shangri-La, this 100 square-meter mountain overlook hangs its screened outdoor public area at treetop level.

Featuring a standard pinewood structure which is built over a metallic base, the lodge used local labor along with basic materials to reduce overhead. The rustic cabin faces South for excellent all-day natural lighting brought inside by both windows and skylights. The elevated hallway overlooks the river valley while the East facing deck displays massive rock formations and offers a captivating open-air experience. Looks like the perfect setting to write a book or two.
