There was a huge turnout at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival and there are a lot of exciting announcements as well. After a series of superyachts, daycruisers, and tenders, we turn our attention to platforms that cater to the spirit of adventure out at sea. The Globalfast is a bold explorer from Silver Yachts that launched recently.

Boasting a 1,561 gross tonnage, we’re looking at a massive canvas owners can turn into bespoke expressions of excess. Its striking outline reminds us of a military ship or perhaps a research trawler, albeit fancier. Nevertheless, Silver Yachts has several other models to choose from if this is not your cup of tea.

The 280-footer is an all-aluminum monohull designed by Espen Øino, a naval architect based in Monaco. If you happen to see the Globalfast out at sea, it appears like a floating fortress. However, those who climb aboard will witness a craft replete with elegant appointments and more.

Almost all of its spaces give you a sense of freedom including the enclosed sections which are lined with windows for panoramic views. The sun deck, upper deck, and main deck all encourage people to socialize and just have fun. There’s no shortage of entertainment, dining, and drinking options here.

To aid with the owner’s arrival and departure by air, a helipad and hangar are at their disposal. There’s even a refueling facility to ensure the chopper is ready to go anytime. The aft deck is large enough to hold up to two tenders side by side, while a nine-ton crane helps deploy and hoist these as well as water toys. The Globalfast can easily hit 23 knots, but cruise at a steady 17 knots.
