Porsche Design is the German automotive marque’s lifestyle label that regularly delivers an outstanding collection of products made with the discerning and dapper individual in mind.  As part of its 50th-year anniversary capsule collection, this is the 50Y RCT PWRPlate – a sleek and stylish pair of sneakers.

In 2006, the company inked a deal with fellow German sports apparel manufacturer Adidas. The partnership lasted for quite some time until Puma replaced its compatriot. Hence, the 50Y RCT PWRPlate is another collaborative production.

To keep the silhouette visually understated, Porsche Design goes for two colorways: Jet Black/Platinum Grey and Platinum Grey/Jet Black. Normally, most of us here would pick the blackout chromatic combo in a heartbeat. However, we believe the Grey/Jet Black option is the more attractive among the two.

At first glance, you can already tell that these pair of kicks are not only about good looks. The evoKNIT upper provides a comfortable and breathable sock-like fit, while the checkered flag pattern evokes a motorsport vibe. The 50Y RCT PWRPlate reminds you of its exclusivity with the Porsche Design 50 label on the tongue.

Furthermore, the applied lace cage just above the toe box also indicates that it is “One of 911” which designates the number of examples available. On the medial side of the midfoot is a carbon fiber panel with the Porsche Design script. The 50Y RCT PWRPlate also bears the Puma logo on the heel pull tab and on the sockliner.

The final spot where you can see the pouncing cat emblem is on the outsole and it’s in red. The composite insert of its PWRPlate midsole is also visible here. The 50Y RCT PWRPlate also ships in a special 50Y Porsche Design gift box.
