Drawing inspiration from the original Luminor 1950, a diving watch famously used by commandos of the Italian Navy, the new Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 Carbotech Watch ($TBA) is a sublime fusion of past and future.

This professional grade instrument features a matte black 47 mm case made of never-before-used Carbotech (layers of carbon fiber bound together with a polymer), a non-corrosive, hypoallergenic, scratch-resistant material that is lighter & tougher than carbon fiber alone, ceramic or titanium. Cutting this high-tech element creates a unique surface design, meaning no two watches will be the same. Inside the Submersible 1950 Carbotech is the Panerai built 28 jewel and 197 components P.9000 caliber, an automatic winding mechanical movement with an impressive 72-hour power reserve, which makes it a true workhorse. Finishing touches include a screwed-in titanium caseback, black rubber strap and DLC-coated titanium buckle, with more bracelet and strap options set to be available when the watch launches in October. Oh, and if it wasn’t obvious, the Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 is water resistant – up to 985 feet to be exact. Limited edition of only 500 pieces.
