Boasting inventive and unusual designs, MB&F Horological Machines are always intriguingly different despite the solid traditional watchmaking behind them. The latest of their Legacy Series, the Legacy Machine Split Escapement Watch, also presents a classic 1890’s style enhanced by an optical illusion.
Due to the arrangement of the escapement and the balance and escape wheels, the balance seems to oscillate without any visible power source. The three subdials all seem to float over the surface of the brushed finish of the face and show the time at 12 o’clock, the power reserve at 4 o’clock, and the date at 8 o’clock. The intricate movement beats at a standard 2.5H / 18,000bph behind a clear sapphire crystal caseback.
The Split Escapement watch is being limited to a total of 72 units with just 18 each in four colors of Blue, Ruthenium, Red Gold, and Yellow Gold with the dials in complimentary colors on traditional leather straps.
