The XV950 motorcycle from Yamaha is one of the best bobbers to use as an easy-to-build-upon base, and many passionate bike builders will surely confirm that. ‘The Face’ is the first project created by Kingston Customs for Yamaha’s Yard Built program, and it is also the first ‘café bob’ of the lineup.
Looking gorgeous and unique, the bike proves that welding and cutting are not always necessary for successful customizations. The XV950 represents an excellent starting point, as it encourages the imagination with many different possibilities. Yamaha experts knew that Dirk Oehlerking of Kingston Customs would have some great ideas as to what direction this project could take, and they were right.
The custom parts and components that the builders used for this bike will be made available for purchase, giving any XV950 owner the possibility to put together their own version of ‘The Face’. It is very easy for any passionate builder to strip the original model down to its core and then start building it up again in a fresh and unique way.
In this particular version, Dirk blended together bobber and café racer traits to illustrate just how well the base motorcycle can morph into something entirely new. Some of The Face’s new in-house features include the custom hand-stitched seat, the transparent air filter cover, the speedometer bracket, the foot peg bracket, the yellow MX visor screen, the foot brake lever, and the gear shift.
A series of other aftermarket parts also made it into the new design, and they can be all ordered directly from the Kingston Customs website.
