The beloved Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso model is celebrating its 85th anniversary in 2016. For this extraordinary occasion, the fabled luxury watchmaker has created a limited edition platinum version of the watch, called Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon. The timepiece celebrates its history while also looking towards the future by incorporating new elements of design and technology.
The Reverso keeps its rectangular shape and iconic double-faced design, but it also incorporates the brand’s unique Gyrotourbillon, developed only a few years back by Eric Coudray. Powering the watch is a new in-house manual-winding Caliber 179, which is thirty percent lighter than the previous version.
One side of the watch holds the hour and minutes subdial in the upper section, with the day/night indicator at 11 o’clock. The lower section holds the Gyrotourbillon surrounded by a graduated disc which shows the seconds with help from a tiny blue arrow on the lower left side of the dial.
On the reverse dial the engraved movement is beautifully displayed. The time display is much different in design from the one on the front side, and the day/night indicator is positioned at 2 o’clock, in a 24-hour configuration. Limited to 75 pieces, the Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon is priced at $270,000.
