As reports indicate, Suntory has brought back one of its lauded labels after 11 years. Those who closely follow trends related to alcoholic beverages know the reason why distribution was halted in the first place. It was not due to some controversy or decline in quality. In fact, the ridiculous demand for this blended expression was getting out of hand.
According to the company’s press communications, its reserves crucial for crafting the Hibiki 12 were almost completely depleted. Hence, it makes sense why it roughly took them this much time to replenish stocks. Given the age statement, production should be back in full swing until further notice. Here’s what to expect from the release.
The recipe calls for a combination of more than 30 whiskeys. Notable components of the recipe include Yamazaki single malt, Hakushu single malt, and Chita grain whiskey, among others. Some are up to 30 years old, while 12 years old is the youngest. Finally, the liquid matures in Yamazaki American oak, Spanish oak, and Mizunara casks,
Tasting notes include jasmine, sandalwood, orange, cardamom, persimmon, butterscotch, and toasted cinnamon. The Hibiki 12 presentation “captures the essence of Spring and renewal. Vibrant cherry blossoms entwine with the ever-changing flow of water, connecting the passing season with the next.
