Most automatic trash bins use battery-powered sensors to automate the lid opening and trash bag sealing, but not the bag refilling. You still have to touch the dirty bin to place a fresh one inside. BinHero by Daily Mechanics aims to keep the process as clean as possible, delivering what it calls a “new standard in kitchen hygiene.”

This 49L smart bin changes its own bag without sensors, batteries, or a motor. It does so mechanically: it seals the full bag, ejects it, and then loads a fresh one. At the press of a button, two actions happen in sequence: sealing and ejecting. The flap assembly that holds the bag closes its mouth, which activates the bag to close itself around the waste. You don’t need to tie the bag yourself.

Then, when the side tub tilts out, it also pulls the drawstring from one side to seal the bag tighter. The bin then ejects the sealed bag for easy disposal. Meanwhile, closing the opened tub activates a mechanism that drops a fresh bag from inside the lid. Then, pressing the pedal opens the new bag’s flaps in a petal-like motion to line the bin. BinHero uses its own bag cartridge that fits into the lid and automatically feeds the bin each time the last one is removed.

The cartridge comes pre-loaded with 30 strong, durable Herobags that can hold up to 22.68 kg and don’t tear or spill during sealing. This bin also doesn’t stink thanks to an integrated activated carbon pod that traps foul odors. The lid also seals flush against a continuous gasket to trap air inside. BinHero eliminates tub scrubbing with its auto-lock and seal mechanism, preventing trash from slipping through and rotting underneath the bag. It also comes with a water outlet underneath, in case you want to hose it down.
