ASUS has been churning out unique computing products as of late. Earlier this year, it showcased its first gaming 2-in-1 detachable – the ROG Flow Z13. Another that debuted was the Zenbook Fold 17 OLED. This is by far one of the most exciting devices you can grab this year.
It is a versatile platform for productivity, entertainment and more. The Taiwanese company has been gradually introducing OLED screens to its lineup. People who prefer the vibrant colors and deep blacks these panels deliver will find this new all-in-one a blast to use.
Many might call it a copycat to the ThinkPad X1 Fold which now comes in a 16.3” display variant. To be fair, Lenovo was the first out of the gate when it unveiled the foldable hybrid in 2020 but in a smaller form factor. Therefore, the Zenbook Fold 17 OLED may be a little late to the party.
Nevertheless, its premium craftsmanship and top-notch performance will appeal to users who want something bigger. ASUS brings you five usage configurations depending on the task at hand. However, where it truly shines is in Desktop mode where you get a massive 17.3” display.
The built-in kickstand easily props the Zenbook Fold 17 OLED upright, while you type away on the included Bluetooth keyboard. In Laptop mode, the said keyboard snaps on the bottom half magnetically for that familiar notebook form factor. This explains the noticeable gap in between when you fold the two halves together.
ASUS equips the Zenbook Fold 17 OLED with an Intel Core i7-1250U processor and 16 GB LPDDR5 RAM. A 1 TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD should be enough storage, while the 75 Wh battery should last up to 9.5 hours depending on usage patterns.
