For automotive enthusiasts, Germany is home to several leading aftermarket tuners. Among these, the shops we usually feature include BRABUS, MANSORY, Alpina, and RUF Automobile, to name a few. Another that deserves your attention is ABT Sportsline. While most of its contemporaries typically pay more attention to luxury, the RS5-R clearly advertises what the former is all about.

So far, those closely following its ventures know that they love to work on marques such as Skoda, Cupra, Volkswagen, and Audi. Thus, just as October was about to end, we learned about its latest project. The team is reportedly taking the stock RS 5 and pushing it beyond what the standard spec sheet advertises.

Here’s how the RS5-R compares to the donor vehicle. At first glance, the regular four-door coupe may not seem intimidating. However, the Four Rings has outfitted its plug-in hybrid hatchback with a potent powertrain. The top-of-the-line configuration calls on a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6.

Together with its electric drive system, this bad boy pumps out 639 horsepower and 608 lb-ft of torque. Apparently, it’s not good enough for the ABT Sportsline. The upgrades going into each of the 130 examples include the Performance S, a carbon fiber aero kit retrofit, a suspension rework, 22″ forged alloy rims, and an Akrapovič titanium exhaust.

With everything hooked up, the RS5-R now generates approximately 710 horsepower and 667 lb-ft of torque. To remind owners of their ride’s exclusivity, badges and door sill trims flaunt the text “1 of 130.” Meanwhile, Dinamica upholstery wraps the dashboard and center console. Lastly, the shift paddles match the owner’s paint job choice of matte Carbon Camouflage or glossy composite weave.
