Is the TV in your mancave or living room in need of an upgrade? Most flat-screen panels are surprisingly affordable these days. However, don’t expect to score the larger ones for a steal. Ultra-short-throw (UST) projectors are quickly becoming popular alternatives, and the upcoming AURA 3 Max by XGIMI is shaping up to be another.

As of our writing, the new model is still in the crowdfunding phase. So far, the Kickstarter page shows a total pledge of $16,072.760 USD from 6,222 backers over a goal of $10,000 with 43 days to go. With an excellent track record from previous projects, buyers can trust the company to ship order on time and without any issues.

Since this is a UST projector, the unit does not need to be some distance away from the projection surface. As a matter of fact, placement can be as close as two inches from the wall. Keep in mind the small clearance accounts for the AURA 3 Max enclosure, cables, and thermal management.

XGIMI is making several claims. According to promotional text, the SKU is the “world’s first UST with dual iris 8000:1 native contrast. Furthermore, it is the “world’s first UST with 4K 120Hz” resolution and refresh rate, respectively. With a 5700 ISO lumens maximum brightness, you can use it even with the lights on.

Nonetheless, curtains drawn and lights off are still the ideal setting to get a cinema-like experience. Meanwhile, the anti-RBE technology reduces the rainbow color effect in both 2D and 3D content. The Aura 3 Max ships with two pairs of 3D glasses in the box. An X-VISION AI image processor optimizes the performance your UST projector for exceptional visual fidelity.
