Nike’s outdoor sub-brand All Conditions Gear (ACG) keeps the weight off your shoulders during alpine escapades with its latest release, the ACG Lava Flow Ultralight jacket. As its name suggests, it is extremely lightweight for a down-filled cold-weather piece of apparel.
It delivers excellent warmth-to-weight ratio through a highly evolved insulation system built for extreme adventures and unforgiving hikes in freezing conditions. It delivers super-effective warmth in a lightweight, packable design that prioritizes comfort and mobility.
The ACG Lava Flow Ultralight jacket features a streamlined, minimalist profile that lets you tackle extreme adventures comfortably and easily, without the bulk and heft of a typical puffer jacket. It uses 1000-fill ExpeDRY down for reliable, efficient lightweight insulation. This technology uses gold-flecked goose down to trap warm air close to the body without the need for a heavy layer.
It also features super-light hardware and zippers to keep the weight down without sacrificing insulation. It “weighs a little while insulating a lot,” as Nike says. A medium-sized men’s jacket weighs a staggeringly light 8.75 ounces even with its hood on. According to the manufacturer, Allied Feather + Down in California, ExpeDry dries up to 50% faster than untreated down.
Its lightweight construction makes the ACG Lava Flow Ultralight easy to deploy for instant warmth. It features a water-repellent ripstop shell, a two-way zipper for heat control, and zippered pockets. This jacket moves with you, serving as a thermal insulating layer below a shell. You can also wear it by itself, or fold it and pack it in your bag. It also stores into its own pocket (one of the zipped pockets doubles as a stuff sack).
