YETI is a brand known for its durable, bear-proof coolers. But it has since expanded into the general outdoor category. It now offers a host of outdoor and everyday carry essentials, including tumblers, bottle openers, bags, and more. Stuart Hogue, Senior Vice President of the Americas, made it clear at the 2026 Investor Day on September 17 that YETI “is no longer just a cooler company.” But the upcoming release of its first electric cooler, the Power Cooler, might be its most ambitious yet since the Seiders brothers founded the brand in 2006.
Executives confirmed during the event that the brand will release its first electric cooler in 2027. Details are scarce about its specs, cooling power, and battery. But according to Hannah Mara, Head of Product, its “Power Cooler will bring an exciting innovation to Yeti and to the entire category next year.”
Releasing the Power Cooler has been in the cards for the company after it acquired patents to a powered cooling technology in 2024 that “will develop a unique powered cooler platform.” But it remains unknown how “unique” the technology is. It will likely run on built-in power or a battery that could double as a power bank for added functionality. It might also be compatible with the brand’s existing power station lineup.
One thing’s for sure, though, is the cooler wouldn’t need ice for insulation. This leaves more room for food and drinks, instead of filling the space with ice to keep things chilled. Existing hard coolers in the Roadie and Tundra lineup require ice to stay cool. Additionally, loyal customers can expect YETI’s Power Cooler to deliver the same durability and reliable performance as its existing robust coolers.
