Lee 40 Year Anniversary, which is slated for distribution later this month.
From what the press release hints at, the launch of this new draft also marks several other firsts for the company. The Elmer T. Lee 40 Year Anniversary Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey is reportedly at cask strength. “Uncut and unfiltered,” as it reads on the bottle. It’s a rare opportunity to sample this single barrel expression in its purest form yet.
“For the first time, we’re sharing Elmer T. Lee Bourbon exactly as it comes from the barrel,” states Sazerac senior brand director of American Whiskey Erica Bovard. “By offering it uncut and unfiltered, we’re able to highlight the depth and character of the whiskey while staying true to the standards Elmer set.”
Sip it neat, or you can add a splash of water or have it on the rocks if it seems too strong. The next one feels like a small caveat, because not everyone gets to enjoy this exclusive spirit. Each bottle is locked behind a lottery system. Interested buyers can sign up now until September 17, 2026, with the official draw due on September 22, 2026.
It’s too early to tell if this workaround will address the issue of overcrowding on release day. A bottle of Elmer T. Lee 40 Year Anniversary is expected to cost around $100. Tasting notes indicate baking spice, nuts, dried fruit, toasted oak, and crème brûlée.
