Apple’s timing is perfect! Just as things wrapped up at the IFA 2026 expo in Berlin, Germany, the tech industry’s attention was laser-focused on the brand’s Surprise and Shine event. For the smartphone segment, all eyes were on the iPhone Duo. Many perceived the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18 Pro series to be incremental upgrades. Meanwhile, there’s also the Watch Ultra 4.
Market research data indicates that consumers who are in the market for a new smartphone are likely to spend extra for an accessory. Hence, pairing the flagship smartwatch with the latest handset is the likely scenario in the coming weeks. If you already own the Watch Ultra 3, there’s nothing extraordinary that justifies the switch.
According to the press release, the Watch Ultra 4 touts a “new Health Sensing System, which provides the most accurate heart rate sensing in a wearable; powerful insights including readiness; and longer battery life.” Living up to its reputation for durability, the 49 mm case is available in natural or black titanium. Hence, an ideal match for the iPhone Duo’s frame.
For faster and more responsive performance, it’s now running on Apple’s S11 chip. The new silicon enables the device’s cutting-edge suite of health-tracking functions. Next up is the battery, lasting up to 50 hours during regular usage and up to 84 hours in Low Power mode. For workouts, you get 18 hours with tracking and 45 hours without.
“Apple Watch Ultra 4 ups your game in every sport. When you’re cycling, it actively monitors your speed and efficiency so you can see your progress in real time. And in the water, it can track your sets as you swim, automatically detect stroke patterns, and calculate your total distance. Time to clock your best,” writes Apple.
