Neon Genesis Evangelion is one of the few anime series that have withstood the test of time. After debuting in 1995, the franchise is still going strong, with a brand-new entry coming our way. With this level of popularity, there is a shortage of merchandise for fans to indulge in. We have two cool gaming keyboards from the MelGeek Centauri-EVA collection.
The larger of the duo is the Centauri80 Rei Edition HE — based on Rei Ayanami — one of the main characters in the show. It measures 375 mm x 150 mm x 45 mm (LxWxH) and touts an 83-key ANSI layout. MelGeek tells us the geometric case is made of aluminum alloy, along with an FR4 plate, tinned spring gasket mount, and Poron damping material.
For a cohesive look, the white body is contrasted by transparent OC keycaps, rubberized feet, and LED accent lighting in various shades of blue. Meanwhile, to the right, just above the arrow keys, is a 1.78″ 368×448 (326 ppi) OLED screen. Next in the Centauri-EVA lineup is the Centauri60 Asuka Edition HE.
As the name hints at, this SKU is inspired by another iconic character — Asuka Langley Soryu. It’s slightly more compact than the former at 351 mm x 126 mm x 43 mm (LxWxH). Similarly, the housing is crafted from the same lightweight metal and sports the same components as the other.
Both keyboards in the Centauri-EVA catalog are kitted out with Flip King magnetic white switches. Of course, these are hot-swappable should owners prefer a fully custom typing experience. Each of the two features artwork of their respective characters on the underside. Buyers can likewise order a special bundle with a matching mouse and mouse pad.
