Leave it up to Mercedes-Benz—along with the expert tuners and designers of AMG—to turn a family-oriented vehicle into a track-ready demon that hides under a sleek façade. Of course, we are talking about the 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door. We want to find out what it brings to the table for the family man. Albeit, one who loves a little speed every once in a while. If you fit the description, then the racing DNA that flows through the veins of this German beauty will no doubt please your senses.
Sources reveal that this model is AMG’s third in-house production machine. The team configured this four-door coupe with a race-ready performance that’s at home on the track, highway, and urban byways.
The vehicle will come in three trims, the GT 53, 63, and 63 S with different engine configurations. The 53 is sporting a 3.0-liter turbocharged straight six-cylinder engine. The manufacturer even included an advanced starter generator that adds another 21 horsepower to the 429 horsepower output. Equally important, the component also reduces torque delay.
Meanwhile, the 63 and 63 S are both relying on a 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 powerplant from AMG. The former delivers 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, while the latter produces a remarkable 630 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. All trims are working with a nine-speed multi-clutch transmission. The company has yet to reveal the pricing for the 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, but we found it that it’s intended to go up against the Porsche Panamera.
