From its beginnings 28 years ago, Toyota’s Lexus LS has always held its own as a reliable, luxury sedan. Just unveiled at this year’s Detroit Auto Show, the 2018 Lexus LS 500 ($TBA) continues to be – despite some very dramatic changes – the epitome of opulence on the road.

While this fifth generation LS 500 keeps the signature spindle grill, it now fronts an all-new 3.5 liter twin turbo V-6 engine rather than the standard V-8. It still produces 415 horsepower and 442 ft-lbs of torque so power is not compromised. It can hit 0-60 mph in just 4.5 seconds and has been coupled with a 10 speed automatic transmission.

The new Lexus LS 500 sits lower than previous iterations of the model and the cockpit has been redesigned to give even greater driver control. Options available even include Shiatsu massage in both front and rear seats which goes well with the interior lighting that is modeled after traditional Japanese lanterns.
