A mix of technical performance and beautiful design, the Ulysse Nardin Marine Torpilleur Military Watch is part of a trio of fine chronometers just released for the upcoming SIHH 2018.
The reputable, 152-year old Swiss brand is a top supplier of accurate timepieces (to over fifty of the world’s navies), and their savoir-faire is deeply reflected in this new iteration. Fashioned as a true marine chronometer, the watch focuses on such critical features as high accuracy & strong legibility. Inside its sand-blasted 44mm steel case ticks a state-of-the-art UN-118 in-house movement, containing a special escapement that is frictionless, requires no lubrication, and provides superior precision.
Harking back to the pocket chronometers of sea captains from the 19th and early 20th centuries, the watch has an oversized screwed-down crown and a fluted bezel. It uses Arabic rather numerals, a small seconds track at 6 o’clock, and a stamped caseback, displaying a Torpilleur (French for destroyer). This no-nonsense marine chronograph arrives in either an eggshell dial with a brown leather strap or a black dial paired with a black leather strap, each limited to 300 individually numbered units.
