Up and coming New York-based JLA Sound Systems has introduced its first wireless speakers to the world. Founded by two brothers, one an architect and the other an engineer, they sought to find a balance between form and function, so rather than build a speaker that would look good with your furniture, they made the speaker be the furniture.
At first glance, the JLA M.1 BlackxBlack wireless speaker looks like a modernistic side table. The 18″ cube is split diagonally with the bottom half open and the upper part containing the speakers and electrical components. Crafted of Baltic Birch with brass details, the JLA M.1 is controlled via phone, tablet, or computer and is compatible with iOS, Android, Windows, or Mac.
Each table/speaker has a 2-way, full range bass reflex, bi-amplified system, 8” aluminum cone with Butyl surround woofer and 1 1/8” ferrofluid-cooled silk dome tweeter. The M.1 can intuitively power up when music is begun on your app without hitting a power button. Available also in natural Baltic Birch with aluminum details.
