The highly respected Swiss manufacturer of mechanical watches Audemars Piguet first introduced their chunky Royal Oak model back in 1993. Now, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of this emblematic & trendsetting timepiece, the company has just unveiled a new, limited edition of four special watches.
Almost identical to the original, the new Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph comes with a 42mm stainless steel case, a “Petite Tapisserie” black dial with dark blue chronograph registers, and matching blue pushers, crown and alligator strap. The second steel watch in the quartet has a brown dial fitted with pink gold hands.
For bling lovers, there’s the 18k yellow gold model that sports a blue dial and golden sub-dials, offered on a matching 18k gold bracelet and a spare alligator strap, with a gold pin buckle, of course.
The most expensive and heavyweight of the line–literally–is a behemoth all-platinum chronograph with grey dial and black sub-dials, matching bracelet and extra alligator strap, limited to 50 pieces and tipping the scales at over a pound (0,5 kg)! Now that’s a watch to wear only on special occasions–with your arm resting, preferably.
